Setting Up Outlook on Your Phone
This guide explains how to set up your Birmingham City Mission email on your iPhone or Android phone using the Microsoft Outlook app. Once set up, you'll be able to check emails, view your calendar, and stay connected on the go.
The process takes about 5 minutes and you'll need your BCM email address and password to hand.
Before You Start
Make sure you have:
- Your BCM email address (e.g., yourname@birminghamcitymission.co.uk)
- Your password
- Your phone connected to the internet (Wi-Fi or mobile data)
- Access to your phone for verification codes
If you've forgotten your password, you can reset it at aka.ms/sspr before starting this guide.
Setting Up on iPhone
1. Download the app
Open the App Store on your iPhone and search for Microsoft Outlook. Tap Get to download it.
2. Open Outlook
Once installed, tap the Outlook icon to open the app.
3. Add your account
Tap Add Account and enter your full BCM email address (e.g., yourname@birminghamcitymission.co.uk).
4. Enter your password
On the next screen, enter your BCM password and tap Sign in.
5. Verify your identity
You may be asked to verify using a code sent to your phone. Enter the code when prompted.
6. Finish setup
Tap Maybe Later if asked about adding another account. Your emails will now start syncing.
Make sure notifications are turned on: Go to Settings → Notifications → Outlook → Allow Notifications. This way you'll know when new emails arrive.

Troubleshooting
If you run into problems, here are some common solutions:
- Wrong password error: Try resetting your password at aka.ms/sspr
- No verification code received: Make sure your phone has signal and wait a few minutes
- App won't install: Check you have enough storage space on your phone
- Emails not syncing: Pull down on your inbox to refresh, or check your internet connection
