Azure File Sync Setup Checklist (On-Site)
1. Prepare the On-Prem Server
- [ ] Confirm the Access DB folder location (e.g.,
D:\AccessDB) - [ ] Ensure the folder name matches the current Z: drive share name
- [ ] Confirm the database is not open or in use during sync setup
2. Install & Register Azure File Sync Agent
- [ ] Download & install the Azure File Sync Agent: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=57159
- [ ] After install, open Azure File Sync agent and:
- [ ] Sign in with global admin credentials
- [ ] Register the server with your Storage Sync Service
3. Link the Sync Group
- [ ] In the Azure Portal:
- [ ] Go to Storage Sync Services
- [ ] Select your created Sync Service
- [ ] Create a new Sync Group
- [ ] Add the Azure File Share you created
- [ ] Add the registered server and folder path (e.g.,
D:\AccessDB)
4. Verify & Finalise
- [ ] Ensure initial sync completes successfully
- [ ] Confirm files are visible in Azure Portal (Storage Account > File Shares)
- [ ] Test Access DB connectivity on each client using the mapped share path (Z:)
5. (Optional) Map Drive Z: via Login Script or Intune
- [ ] Set up persistent drive mapping to the Azure-synced folder
- [ ] Use GPO or Intune if you want to automate it across all clients
✅ Result: You’ll have cloud-resilient, LAN-speed access to your Access DB with zero structural changes.
